Subject: Olde Fashioned Christmas Dinner
Fellow Parishioners,
All Saints by now would normally be planning and preparing for our annual Olde Fashioned Christmas Dinner (OFCD) that is generally held near the end of November. Unfortunately, due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and associated uncertainties, Parish Council has decided to cancel this year’s event. Were it to proceed, the event would need to be take-out only. This would not be ideal for the OFCD. Also, as was the case in June around the time of our annual lobster dinner, many of our usual participants would not be comfortable gathering to assist with preparation and there was concern that ticket sales would likely be adversely impacted.
We realize that this will be a disappointment to many of you. Similar to the lobster dinner, the OFCD is one of the highlights of our Church calendar and a great opportunity for fellowship that is enjoyed by all participants, including partakers from the wider community. However, for the reasons noted, Council considered that we should forego the OFCD for this year.
Our OFCD usually contributes a significant sum to our fundraising revenue. In an effort to avoid a shortfall in that category, like we did for the lobster dinner, Council has decided to hold a “Non-OFCD.” In lieu of purchasing dinner tickets as well as donating food items for the meal, Council is requesting that people consider making a donation of an equivalent amount to our Non-OFCD this year. Donations may be dropped off at, or mailed to the Church office or made electronically through the All Saints website or Facebook page (links provided below) or directly through Canada Helps.org. Alternatively, you may contact Rev. Trevor to make a direct visa or debit card donation. Unfortunately, you will not get a dinner but you will receive a tax receipt for your donation!
While financial assistance from the Diocese, together with Government programs have helped during the pandemic, we have not gone unscathed. Therefore, we earnestly ask that you give this special appeal your prayerful consideration.
